Why Summit is the best place to see daffodils in NJ
Planted for the first time in the early 1900s by the property’s original owners, the Wiseners, the daffodils are a long tradition at the mansion. Today, there are over 50,000 bulbs in bloom on the grounds, which became known as the Daffodil Bowl (for the way the ground dips to resemble a vast bowl) and brings admirers from all over NJ to see the spring display. One of the season’s first blooms, daffodils in NJ begin to show their gorgeous colors in early spring and reach their peak about a month after the final frost. This year, Daffodil Day culminates on April 15, and seeing the rolling fields of yellow and white is a sign that spring is finally here.

Who doesn’t love vendors, food, and beautiful flowers? The yellow beauties are just one part of the day planned. After walking among these gorgeous blooms in the Daffodil Bowl, visit the Arboretum’s Green Goats, create spring-themed arts and crafts, play a few fun games, check out the art exhibit, and do the story trail. When is the Daffodil Day Festival?
Daffodils in NJ will bloom soon, so buying your festival tickets early is best to avoid them selling out. The Daffodil Day Festival is on April 12 from 11 AM to 3 PM, with staggered entry times at 11 AM, 12 PM, and 1 PM.
How much does it cost to visit?
Tickets are free for members, $15 per person for non-members, and free for those under 3. Pre-registration is required to attend—timed tickets are available online. Regular viewing during Daffodil Days (from April 1-15) is $10 for non-members, and children under 3 are free. If you haven’t had enough of the beautiful blooms, you can sign up to enjoy tea in their Secret Tea Room overlooking the daffodils.

The Arboretum parking lot will be closed during the festival, but on-street parking is available. Please adhere to all parking signs and give yourself ample time to park and walk to the Arboretum.
